The brain

Kids, that spreadsheet was a building with no blueprint. I split it into three tabs, and now it stands on its own.
Settings › Brain decides where Ted's thinking runs. You can switch any time.
Claude CLI or Anthropic API
| Option | How it works |
|---|---|
| Claude CLI | Ted uses the claude command-line tool you are signed in to, on your Claude subscription. No key to paste |
| Anthropic API | Ted calls the API with your key, and you pick the model. Billed to your key |
The API key is kept in the macOS Keychain; the daemon gets a copy when it needs it.
Tools: ask first or auto-approve
Tools, in the Engine room section of Settings, decides whether Ted asks before using a tool (running a command, sending a message, clicking) or goes ahead. Ask first is the careful setting.
Personality
How much Ted Mosby goes into Ted's replies:
- The real Ted: architect, storyteller, hopeless romantic.
- Low-key: warm and precise, with a nod to the show once in a while.
- Off: straight answers.
Messages Ted sends as you, on WhatsApp or e-mail, never carry his personality. They sound like you.
The power bill
The Brain sheet also shows what Ted's thinking has used, by model.
Heads-ups
Ding when Ted replies plays a short sound when an answer lands while you are elsewhere.
